Presented by the Annmarie Gift Shop, the Ornament Show & Sale is a juried show that features hand-crafted ornaments by 20 regional artists. This is the perfect place to find unique and affordable gifts for friends and family. The ornaments are beautifully hung on trees displayed in the Main Gallery of the Arts Building. Visitors shop off the trees and take their purchases to the Gift Shop. The show kicks off before Thanksgiving and runs through early January. During Garden In Lights, the show is open late!
Information for Artists
The Gift Shop at Annmarie Garden invites artists and craftspeople to apply to the Annual Ornament Show & Sale to take place during the holiday season. Artists and craftspeople working in any medium are invited to apply - fine arts, folk art, and craft media, toys, etc. Individuals as well as groups may apply to share a tree and sell their creations. The beautiful Main Gallery of the Arts Building at Annmarie Sculpture Garden will be the setting for the show. All sales will run through the Gift Shop, so artists need not be on site every day. Applications are reviewed on a first come, first served basis. Artists will be notified of acceptance into the show within one week of application submission. Modest booth fees apply.
Curiosities: a collection of natural wonders
A little bit creepy, a little bit curious, visitors will enjoy perusing the assorted collection of jars, bottles, and boxes, full of bones, skulls, insect carcasses, eggs, furs, feathers, and various preserved specimens. It’s a delightful mix of oddities perfect for the Halloween season!
For those who like to sketch, bring a sketch pad!
In conjunction with the Cardboard Day of Play, to be held Sunday, October 15, 2017, enjoy a Cardboard Art Show in the Main Gallery at Annmarie. This exhibit is open to all ages and abilities. Each work of art has to be at least 75% cardboard.

“For my part I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of the stars makes me dream.”
-Vincent Van Gogh
The sight of the sky stirs within us a sense of wonder and a desire to dream. From one moment to the next, our perception of the sky is changing. In the course of a day, the shifting sky can transform from severe to serene. Vicious storms become vibrant vistas in mere minutes. Blushing sunsets give way to tranquil starlight and the mysterious moon. Spectacular Skies celebrates artwork that captures the vast expanses of the celestial sphere. Works explore the sky, stars, clouds and atmospheric phenomena that evoke a thoughtful, expressive, and visually monumental presence.
Exhibit Juror: Allie Snyder Dattilio, Amaryllis Truth Studio, Hagerstown, Maryland
Juror's Statement: It was an honor (and quite the challenge) to be tasked with selecting such a small fraction of works out of the hundreds of incredibly talented entries. Throughout the selection process, I kept returning to two words from the show’s prospectus: wonder and mystery. Along with the overall technique each artist demonstrated, I focused on the piece’s overall mood and success in conveying those crucial emotions -- works that contained a dichotomy between pure power and awesomeness against the subtlety and quietness that surrounds us. This delicate push and pull of forces anchors each piece selected, and ties this show together as a whole.
Congratulations to our Spectacular Skies Juror's Award Winners!
