Named for long-time Southern Maryland arts supporter, Kay Daugherty, the Daugherty Internship Program provides opportunities for students to work in an arts organization.  Examples of possible internship projects include: working as a summer camp counselor or counselor-in-training, developing new education and recreation programs, exploring ways of expanding and improving public relations programs, working on exhibits, creating new trail guides. 
 

APPLY NOW!  Summer Paid Internship - Summer Camp Counselor (paid position):  This position is open to undergraduate and graduate level college students.  The Camp Counselor helps to coordinate the many aspects of Annmarie's summer camp program, from checking students in, preparing classrooms materials and activities, to helping the instructors.  The Camp Counselor is integral to the success of the camp program and requires a student who is well organized, patient, self-motivated and resourceful.  Candidate must have experience with or interest in working with young children.  Interested applicants must currently be enrolled in a degree program and must submit their resume and two letters of recommendation to the contact listed below.  Accepted applicant will be paid an hourly rate and is expected to work 35-40 hrs/week, Monday-Friday, 8:30am- 4:30pm.  Application materials must be submitted by email to programs@annmariegarden.org.  Submit a cover letter, resume, and two letters of recommendation (one must be from a college professor).  Complete application packet must be received by April 15.  


Spring and Fall Internships (unpaid, for college credit):  Annmarie welcomes undergraduate and graduate level students to pursue special projects in the arts, administration, education, or environmental sciences. Typically, most students choose a 1-3 credit internship which translates into approximately 4-12 hours a week.  Please note that different departments/schools may have differing requirements.  It is the responsibility of the student to discuss the requirements with your department advisor!  Annmarie staff will work closely with the intern to develop a program that fits the students needs and the needs and resources of Annmarie.  The goal of the program is to provide the student with a fulfilling experience and to provide substantive support to Annmarie.

High School Student Opportunities: 

Summer Counselor-In-Training (for service learning hours) - Open to high school and undergraduate students.  If you are interested in working with kids, this is a great opportunity to gain skills and work in an arts environment.  CITs work closely with the Camp Counselor(s) and the Camp Instructor(s).  CITs help prepare the classrooms, monitor the students, and assist the Instructors.  It is hard work and a lot of fun!   Positions are filled in an on-going basis so interested applicants should apply early.
