Selected for Prestigious Artful Movement Program Expanding Creative Wellness and Mindful Learning Opportunities in Our Community
SOLOMONS, Md., March 24, 2026— Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center is proud to announce that it has been selected to participate in the Artful Movement® program, an innovative arts-and-mindfulness initiative developed by the nonprofit Create Calm, Inc. in collaboration with the Smithsonian National Museum of Asian Art and Smithsonian Affiliations. Annmarie Sculpture Garden is honored to be one of nine institutions from across the country chosen to partner with the Smithsonian on this initiative.
About Artful Movement®
Artful Movement is a unique museum-based learning experience that combines mindful movement, slow looking, and structured thinking routines to help students develop social-emotional skills, connection, and collaboration. Participants explore works of art with their bodies and minds, reflecting and learning together in a meaningful way.
Artful Movement® at Annmarie
At Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center, Education Specialists will lead Artful Movement classes centered on A Tribute to the Oyster Tonger, A Chesapeake Waterman by sculptor Antonio Tobias Mendez. Through guided movement and thoughtful observation, participants will explore the sculpture’s powerful physical presence and the story it tells—of labor, resilience, and deep connection to the Chesapeake Bay. The program aligns with Annmarie’s commitment to accessible, interdisciplinary learning that connects art, nature, and well-being.
