In this two-part workshop, use simple tile-making methods to create your own colorful tiles, and then use them to assemble a mosaic style welcome sign for your home.  Work with wet clay to fashion parts for your sign, then learn techniques for assembling and grouting the tiles to form an outdoor-ready sign.  Class is broken into two days two weeks apart to allow for drying time.

Learn a comprehensive skill set for working in clay.  Begin with basic handbuilding techniques such as slab, coil, and pinch methods, and then work your way to the potters wheel to learn basic throwing techniques.  Advanced students are welcome to join in to improve their skills or gain practice with the instructor's guidance.  This series is project-oriented, so students will walk away with several finished pieces. The series culminates with a raku firing so students can be exposed to this exciting process.

Painterly Printmaking—a Winter Break Camp

Join us over your winter break to explore the exciting world of printmaking.  From painting, collaging, and carving, learn how to make your printing plate and combine it with inks to create artwork that you can replicate over and over again!  Learn how to bind your prints into books, and even swap a few like trading cards with your winter camp friends!  Pack a lunch, dress for a mess, and join us for some playful printmaking!

Introduction to Ballet             Approx. Age 3-5
Wednesdays: 4-5pm

Introduction to Ballet focuses on coordination, motor skills development, creative expression, musical appreciation and the relationship between music and dance.  Basic ballet steps are incorporated into fun dance exercises that children can enjoy.  Taught once a week for 1 hour.

Pre-Ballet       Approx. Age 6-8
Wednesdays: 5-6pm

This class solidly prepares students to advance to the first level of the Vaganova method.  Students are taught the basic fundamentals of the ballet technique and develop the self=-discipline necessary to continue the study of classical ballet.  This class is recommended to be taught twice a week, each class being 1 hour long.

 

Beginning Level, Vaganova I           Approx. Age 9-12
Wednesdays: 6-7pm

This level is the primary focus of ballet education and technique.  This level offers a systematic and consecutive method of training according to the Vaganova method.  When a student reaches the Vaganova II level, it is necessary to attend a minimum of two 1.5 hour classes per week.

Intermediate Level, Vaganova III
Tuesdays: 4-6pm
Wednesdays: 7-8: 30pm
Thursdays: 4-5:30pm
(Placement by teacher)

Students develop practical skills and more complex movements and combinations.  Muscular self control and basic coordination and expression is emphasized.  It is necessary for these students to attend a minimum of three ballet classes, each class being 1/2 hour and a 1 hour stretch/ pilates class.
