HOUSEKEEPER

Title: Part-Time HOUSEKEEPER
Hourly Pay Rate: $10-$11/hr (depending on experience)
Work Schedule: Part-time; 15-21 hours/week; No benefits
Job Summary
Work involves cleaning the buildings at Annmarie Garden, including the Arts Building, the Studio School, and the Artist House/Ceramic Studio. Work requires ability to follow specific directions and guidelines. Requires person able to carefully operate around works of art, exhibits, and other delicate objects and equipment. May work alone or as part of a team. Meticulous, friendly, and responsible person desired.
Essential Job Functions
Cleans restrooms and drinking fountains and replaces supplies
Vacuums and sweeps carpets and other floor space
Cleans ceramic tiles and stairwell
Cleans catering kitchen, kitchen equipment (ice machine), and offices
Cleans all buildings according to specific set of instructions
Washes windows, walls, mirrors, woodwork
Cleans glass in doors and other areas
Orders, stores, and replaces supplies
May be asked to arrange tables, chairs, and equipment for programs
Cleans out drains & empties trash
Other Duties
Decorates building for holidays and programs; helps with special event set up – inside and outside in all weather; lubricates locks and door hinges; Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills to—
Perform building cleaning work; understanding of cleaning supplies and equipment
Follow oral and written instructions; Deal politely with the public
Experience, Training and/or Education
One year of relevant work experience; high school diploma or GED
Licenses or Certificates
Must have reliable transportation
Special Requirements:
Must be 18 years of age
May be subject to a background investigation
Must be able to work carefully around works of art and special equipment
Must to willing to learn special cleaning techniques
Must be able to work every Monday, as well as some evenings and weekends for special events
Physical Demands:
Requires somewhat strenuous effort to perform manual work involving crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or lifting objects up to 50 pounds. Must be able to mop large expanse of floor.
Unusual Demands:
Worker is exposed to dirt and hazards from working with waste material. May be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays in addition to normal business operations.

Annmarie Garden established an internship program in 2003. Applications are accepted on an on-going basis. Below are examples of some possible intern projects.

Requirements
PAID Summer Internship: students are required to work 455 hours over the course of the summer. This translates into about 35 hours a week, but the schedule is very flexible! Stipend is $4500. APPLICATION DEADLINE: April 1st.
UNPAID Fall Internship: Typically, most students choose a 1-3 credit internship which translates into approximately 3-9 hours a week. Please note that different departments may have differing requirements. It is the responsibility of the student to discuss the requirements with your department advisor! APPLICATION DEADLINE: September 1st.

About Annmarie Garden
Annmarie Garden is a thirty acre sculpture park located in scenic Solomons, Maryland. The Garden features an inviting paved path that meanders through the woods past permanent and loaned works of outdoor sculpture. The recent addition of sculpture on loan from the Smithsonian Institution’s Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden has increased the number and significance of works of art in the park. The Garden is open daily and is an intriguing place to explore how are and nature merge. Whether you stroll along the path, sign up for an art class, enjoy a special event, or simply spend time with your family, Annmarie Garden is an enchanting place to visit.

About the Artist in Residence Program
Annmarie’s residency program provides a serene place on the Western Shore of the Chesapeake Bay for visual, musical, and literary artists to create works that address ecological issues and/or inspire community involvement. Artists have access to a private studio space in addition to a variety of classroom studios and garage spaces, a waterfront, and fifty acres of forest and field. Residencies are meant to focus on merging the arts and the environment and should include the involvement of our local community to some capacity.
Eligibility
Professional and emerging visual artists, musicians, and literary artists may apply. Selection is made by an internal panel and/or by a peer review panel. Annmarie Garden accommodates only one artist at a time.
Application Seasons and Deadlines:
Summer (June – August): deadline April 30
Fall (September-November): deadline July 15
Spring (March-May): deadline January 15
